The Baylor Euphonium-Tuba Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Kent Eshelman, has performed at the International Tuba-Euphonium Conferences (ITEC) in Tempe, AZ (2023), Knoxville, TN (2016) and Bloomington, IN (2014); the U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Workshop in Washington, D.C. (2010), and the South-Central Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conferences in Canyon, TX (2018); Edinburg, TX (2017); Conway, AR (2015); and Waco, TX (2011). Selected as one of two winners of the Collegiate Ensembles Competitive Showcase at ITEC 2023, the ensemble has given the world premiere of numerous works including Suite and Three Hymns by John Cheetham and performs concerts each semester on the campus of Baylor University.
Alumni of the ensemble have won First Place in all four divisions of the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Competition and have gone on to enjoy performance opportunities with the New York Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic, and Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, as well as becoming full-time members of the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” the U.S. Air Force Band, the U.S. Air Force Academy Band, and the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West. They occupy music teaching positions at the elementary through collegiate levels and also lead careers in medicine, law, environmental science, and other fields.
