1. Anthony Plog: Post Card V
2. JunYi Chow: Aeolian Dream (World Premier)
3. Luo Dan: Taiwanese Folk Song

This 20-minute recital explores the expressive breadth of the modern tuba through three distinctive works.

Well-known for his Three Miniatures, Anthony Plog showcases another side of his writing in Postcard V, an unaccompanied work that opens the program with vivid character and wit. Its five contrasting movements highlight the tuba’s full range of technical and expressive possibilities, balancing virtuosity, emotion, and humor.

Malaysian award-winning composer JunYi Chow’s Aeolian Dream (World Premiere) (World Premiere), a newly commissioned work, transforms the tuba into a vessel of air and motion, weaving shifting currents of sound that blur the boundary between lyricism and abstraction.

The program concludes with Dan Luo’s Taiwanese Folk Song. As a performer and native Taiwanese, I consistently collaborated with Taiwanese composers. This transcription is a poetic reflection on Taiwanese musical heritage that brings warmth and familiarity to the contemporary soundscape.

Together, these works invite listeners to experience the tuba not merely as a low brass instrument, but as a voice of imagination, memory, and human breath.
