ABOUT SCRTEC 2026

SCRTEC is the acronym for South Central Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference. This is the second conference to be hosted by Dr. Roeder and Dr. Drobnak at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. In 2026, Regional Tuba Euphonium Conferences will be held throughout the country, under the direction of the International Tuba Euphonium Association who sponsors the conferences along with the host institutions. The South Central Region is Texas and the adjoining states, including Mexico.

Students, performers, professors and free-lancers from the area will gather at UTRGV’s School of Music and  spectacular Performance Hall to participate in lectures, concerts, competitions, renew friendships, explore new music and play test new instruments and equipment. Artist recitals will take place from 9 AM to Noon and 1 PM to 5 PM. Collegiate Ensembles will perform between Noon and 1 PM and 5 PM and 7 PM. Evening Concerts begin at 7:30 PM and will be open to the public, though ticket purchase may be required.

In 2017, the first SCRTEC held at UTRGV included nearly 200 participants.

Featured ensembles include the San Antonio Brass Band, the UTRGV Wind Orchestra, and Scott Sutherland’s “YouTube Live on Stage.”

Information will be posted as it becomes available.
