Originally from Hutchinson, Kansas, USA, Eric received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California and his Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School.  He also has done postgraduate work at the Lausanne and Zurich, Switzerland conservatories. He has studied with Doug Tornquist, Tommy Johnson, David Kirk, Warren Deck, Roger Bobo, and Anne-Jelle Visser. Since 1992, he has been principal tubist of the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra in Xalapa,Mexico and is principal tubist of the Minería Symphony Orchestra in Mexico City. For 3 seasons, he was principal tuba with the Spoleto Festival Orchestra in the USA and Italy.

He has performed with the Zurich Opera Orchestra, Mexico City Philharmonic, Solístas de México, The New World Symphony among others. He has recorded for Deutsche Grammaphon and Naxos among other labels. 

He was the first prize winner in the 1988 Pasadena Solo Competition and as a member of the West Side Chamber Brass, was the first prize winner of the 1991 Shoreline for the Arts Chamber Music Competition.

As a soloist, Eric has appeared with the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, the Minería Symphony Orchestra, the Queretaro Philharmonic, the Acapulco Philharmonic, the Salina Symphony, USA, the Serbian Radio Orchestra, and the Chamber Orchestra of the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, among others. In 2012 Eric performed the world premiere of Concerto No. 3 for Tuba and Chamber Orchestra by Dr. Leroy Osmon with the Bellas Artes Chamber Orchestra in Mexico City.  

Eric teaches tuba at the University of Veracruz School of Music and has given master classes in the USA, Brazil, Serbia, Croatia, and Mexico.
