Raúl I. Rodríguez is Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at Texas State University. Released in 2015, his etude book, Low Blows for Tuba, is published by Carl Fischer. As an active musician with over 40 years of experience he has performed in various parts of the United States, Mexico, Ireland and Sweden. He is currently principal tuba with the Victoria Bach Festival in Texas and performs on BBb Bass with the San Antonio Brass Band. He previously served as principal of the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra from 2001-2020. Professor Rodríguez is a certified mindfulness teacher and mental performance coach. He and received his musical training at the University of North Texas.

A successful performance or audition is attainable with the right mindset. Rodríguez will discuss strategies that can be implemented and useful for cultivating a mental routine that emphasizes process over outcome. This mindset affords us an opportunity to transform the success achieved in the practice room to each musical performance on stage.
